Abstract

The project will explore the narrative constitution of collective social identities at the beginning of the 20th century, specifically in the romanic countries: As the diagnostic power of social sciences deteriorates towards the end of the 19th century literature seems to take over by focussing more and more on the fictional construction of "society" and "individuals".
